Highgate

Goodbye Juliette's house!
Yesterday morning Juliette drove me to Elsa's house.  Elsa is my grandma's first cousin; they escaped the Nazis together.  She lives in Highgate, one of the most expensive London suburbs to live in!  Elsa lives in a large apartment building with a door man; her flat is really nice.  Best of all, she gave me a set of keys so I can come and go as I please!   When I arrived yesterday, I settled in and then walked into Highgate Village, the downtown area.  The street was lined with pubs, cafes and trendy stores.  There is a big park that is absolutely gorgeous-- I can imagine that on a sunny summer's day it is packed with picnickers.  At three I met up with Alex Michaels, the cousin I met last week.  He is planning a trip across America so I gave him some travel advice in exchange for London and Paris sightseeing suggestions.  When Alex left I browsed the book shops and met a very curious English lad who was enthralled with my "American accent."  Today is Monday and I have a big day of sightseeing to do!
